The Exhaust Scrubber is the sole machine capable of consuming Exhaust as an input. As a result, it can provide a significant reduction in overall Air Pollution emitted on the island, reducing or entirely preventing Population loss due to illness.
It produces Sulfur as a useful byproduct which can be utilized in Rubber or Acid production. Sufficient Steam (Low) is also output to run one Low-Pressure Turbine II which generates Electricity. Carbon Dioxide can be used to create Graphite or Fuel Gas or safely dumped into the ground via the Gas Injection Pump.
However, straight-up disposing of the byproducts (Sulfur via Burner and CO2 via Smoke Stack) still gives roughly 27% pollution reduction as compared to releasing the exhaust directly into the atmosphere.
