World map represent the world which the player can explore using The Ship. The world map is a map of nodes which represent your Home Island, Villages, various mines or quarries, Oil Rigs, a Groundwater Well, Sawmills, Locations With Enemies, Locations With Loot, or Damaged Cargo Ships. These areas can be visited by The Ship which uses Diesel. When the ship encounters an enemy, it might get damaged. This then requires repairs, which consume resources such as Steel, Electronics, and Mechanical Parts. The player is limited in exploration by the capabilities of their ship. As the player researches new technologies, they are able to improve the ships battle score, engine, fuel reserves and radar range. This then allows the ship to explore areas occupied by stronger enemies, and areas which the ship did not have enough fuel to travel to.

The world map structure is fixed, however the nodes on the map are placed randomly based on your map seed.

Map Locations

Main article: World Map

Exploration

In the beginning of every game, there are several locations already available on the World Map:

  • The Home Island(yellow icon with three houses), from which the game begins.
  • And a village just next to your Home Island for easy early game trade once you've gained access to trading through research, repairs and infrastructure.
  • In addition there's several Unknown Locations which can be explored with The Ship displayed as grey question marks on the world map.

Discovering locations:

Locations can be discovered in two ways:

  • In the early game it is only possible to Discover a new map node(an Unknown Location, GRAY) by Exploring an already discovered map node with The Ship.
  • Later, by upgrading The Ships bridge, locations are no longer discovered as an Unknown Locations, GRAY, but rather with their original icon and coloured GREEN, when there is no enemy and RED, when there is an Location With Enemy. The type of the icon is discovered without visiting the location itself, but by visiting the location preceding this location.

Exploring locations:

Locations can be Explored by visiting them with The Ship: Unexplored locations fall into two categories:

  1. A Location With Enemy with a RED map icon. (It must be defeated for the location to be Explored.)
  2. An Unknown Location with a GREEN map icon.

World Map locations by type:

Unknown Locations

Unknown Locations are locations not yet explored by The Ship, they can have two coloure:

  • GRAY icon. A discovered, but not yet revealed location.
  • GREEN icon. A Village or a Damaged Cargo Ship waiting to be explored.

Locations With Loot

Locations With Loot are actually called "Location With Enemy" ingame, although the World Map icon is a Treasure chest.

  • RED icon. Upon defeating this location it will turn into a Fully Explored(BLUE) location.

Villages

Villages have three different colours:

  • GREEN icon. Waiting To be explored. Actually called "Unknown Location" ingame.
  • RED icon. Waiting To be liberated. Actually called "Location With Enemy" ingame.
  • YELLOW icon. Waiting To be traded with. Actually called "Settlement" ingame.

Damaged Cargo Ships

Damaged Cargo Ships have three different colours:

  • GREEN icon. Waiting To be explored. Actually called "Unknown Location" ingame.
  • RED icon. Waiting To be liberated. Actually called "Location With Enemy" ingame.
  • BLUE icon. Waiting To be repaired.

Resources Locations

  • RED icon. Waiting To be liberated. Actually called "Location With Enemy" ingame.
  • BLUE icon. Waiting To be repaired.
  • YELLOW icon. Waiting To be traded with.

Fully Explored

Fully Explored locations have no other uses than to be travelled through or to.

World Map locations by colour:

A GRAY Unknown Location can be any kind of location.

  • The true nature of this location is revealed by Exploring it with The Ship.

A GREEN Unknown Location can be two different type of locations:

A RED Location With Enemy can be five different type of locations:

  • A simple Location With Enemy, displayed on the World Map with a skull icon. Upon defeating this location, none, but the right of passage through this node is granted and the location will turn into a Fully Explored (BLUE) location.
  • A Location With Loot, displayed on the World Map with a treasure chest icon. Upon defeating this location a varying amount of loot is obtained and the right of passage through this node is granted and the location will turn into a Fully Explored(BLUE) location.
  • A Village waiting to be liberated. Upon liberation, the World Map icon will turn YELLOW, essentially allowing Trade with the village.
  • Or a Resources location, waiting to be liberated. Upon liberation, the World Map icon will turn YELLOW.

A BLUE Cargo Ship

  • Waiting to be repaired and claimed for your own. Upon claiming he ship, the the World Map icon will turn into a Fully Explored (BLUE) location.

A BLUE Resources location

  • Once the enemy at this location has been defeated, the World Map icon turns BLUE, indicating the Resource Location can be repaired.

A YELLOW Resources location

  • Once repaired, the location starts using Manpower and Unity to produce resources (and the icon is turns YELLOW).
  • Those resouces then are then needed to be transported to the Home Island with either The Ship or a Cargo Ship.

A YELLOW Village

  • YELLOW Villages can be traded with.
  • Some Villages require a Donation before Trade can be established.
